Before you float:
Preparing for your experience

Floating offers a rare chance to slow down, release the senses, and reconnect with stillness. This guide will help you prepare for your session and make the most of your time in the float tank.

Preparing for your float

To support a relaxed and restorative experience, we recommend:

  • Avoid caffeine or other stimulants for at least 2–3 hours before your float.
  • Eat a light meal about an hour beforehand to prevent hunger or digestion noises.
  • If you wear contact lenses, bring a case and remove them before entering the float tank.

You’ll shower before and after your float, so there’s no need for cosmetics, lotions, or perfumes. These can interfere with the salt solution and your skin’s ability to breathe.

Our float tanks feature a meditative soundscape, which you can choose to turn on or off using a button inside the tank. You can float with the soundscape or in complete silence, depending on your preference.

Things to avoid before floating

  • Caffeine and stimulants — they make it harder to relax
  • Cosmetics, lotions, cologne, or perfume — to help keep the water pure
  • Shaving or waxing within 4 hours — to prevent salt irritation
  • Hair dye or tanning products — wait at least 48 hours after permanent dye, and one month after semi- or demi-permanent dye or self-tanning products

Who should avoid floating

Floating is generally safe, but we do not recommend it for:

  • Those with uncontrolled epilepsy
  • Anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Those with infectious diseases, open wounds, or new tattoos
  • Anyone who has dyed or tanned within 48 hours
  • Individuals experiencing active psychosis or suicidal ideation

If you have any health concerns, please consult your healthcare provider before booking.

Pregnancy and floating

Many pregnant individuals find floating deeply supportive—offering weightless relief from physical tension and strain. However, we recommend consulting your physician or midwife before your first session.

Cleanliness and filtration

Our float tanks maintain the highest standard of cleanliness through a triple filtration and disinfection system after every float:

  1. High-salinity solution: The 40% Epsom salt environment is naturally hostile to pathogens.
  2. Particle filtration: NSF-certified 10-micron filter removes any remaining debris.
  3. Advanced UV oxidation: A combination of UV light and hydrogen peroxide neutralizes all remaining microorganisms.

The result is crystal-clear, hygienic water for every guest.

Common questions

Do I need a bathing suit? No—floating nude is encouraged to experience full sensory freedom. If you prefer to wear a suit, that’s completely fine.

What if I fall asleep? Many people do. The high-density saltwater keeps you safely afloat.

What if I’m claustrophobic? You are in complete control of your environment. You can leave the tank door open, float with the built-in meditative soundscape on, or enjoy complete silence. Adjust the settings to what feels most comfortable.

Can I float while menstruating? Yes—simply follow the same hygiene practices you would for swimming (using a tampon or menstrual cup).

Does the salt sting? It can if you have small cuts or scratches. Vaseline is provided to cover any sensitive spots before entering. If salt gets in your eyes, use the provided spray bottle and cloth to rinse and return to relaxation.

How often should I float? Many people find benefit from floating once or twice a month, while others come weekly as part of their regular self-care practice. Trust your intuition and notice what feels supportive for your system.

After your float

Take your time emerging. You may feel more spacious, grounded, or subtly altered. Hydrate well and allow the effects to integrate throughout your day.
